Jon Crane’s prints tell Baja stories. Rigo Davis oils capture peninsula colors brilliantly. Marcela’s skulls, off the charts! Hresula’s mosaics,Janet from another Planet, her pieces mystical, symbolic, colorful. And Tom Hagland’s birds come to life, his photography and ornithology expertise, a real legend.

Marcela Cinta

Marcela Cinta was born in Mexico City but found the solace of nature and especially the desert world,
that spoke to her deeply. Creative by nature, the calm of the desert along with its fascinating
plants, drew her artistic spirit and she never looked back.
The town of Loreto and the Sea of Cortez fill her soul, as her next inspiration simmers, just
under the surface.
Marcela’s murals grace homes and businesses around Loreto while her masterfully painted skulls each await their individual calling and final setting.

Rigo Davis

Rigo Davis is one of Loreto’s oldest and most beloved artists. He has captured “history in the
making” in his amazing pieces that can be found throughout the Loreto community. His
depictions of ranch life are reminiscent of yesteryear, yet still very much alive today in the
remote Gigante mountain outback. Rigo also has a calling to the sea and to the village where he
and his extensive family have habituated for centuries, all captured in the work of this serious
artist.

Hugo Gavia

Hugo’s work is everywhere! Seriously. Given almost any subject, this gifted self-taught artist
makes magic, is a strong producer, and works on a variety of surfaces.
Passionate about his work, Hugo can disappear into his craft, sometimes for days. . . then
emerge with a plethora of amazing pieces that capture the essence of Loreto and the
surrounding sea and Gigante Mountain Range. His turtles, whales, and birds come right to life
and almost jump off the wall!

Hersula Bentsen

Color, visuals, and art are the very essence of my life. I have created art in various forms from ayoung age. I still have a paper mosaic art piece saved form grade school and remember the excitement of creating, which still exists with my current glass mosaic art pieces.
Forming a contemporary twist on an age-old art form, I employ coloration techniques of a strong color palette along with fluid movement and flow. A key influence comes from a profound connection between modern painting and visuals of natural surroundings and light, color palette of the 60’s, and primitive and other non-Western cultures.
Hope you enjoy my work with as much satisfaction I achieve creating mosaic art.

Jon Crane

Known as Art That Takes You Home, the artwork of Jon Crane evokes emotions of familiarity, belonging and nostalgia. Painting exclusively in transparent watercolor, his style is highly detailed to show others the beauty of what is real. Jon has spent his forty-seven year career documenting historic landscapes of rural America. In recent years, his interests have expanded to include places he has learned to love in Baja, Mexico.
He lives along a secluded trout stream in the Black Hills of South Dakota with his wife Gail and their Baja rescue cat, Cosme.
Jon’s highest awards include the South Dakota Governor’s Award for Distinction in Creative Achievement, as well as his recent induction into the South Dakota Hall of Fame.

Janet Davis

a.k.a. Janet from another planet was a resident of Juncalito and a very well respected artist, her work, unique, deep, soulful, intriguing. These pieces are one of a kind originals that Caballo Blanco gallery is honored to represent.
Janet crossed over several years ago leaving a lovely home right on the water and her amazing Art legacy.

Tom Hagland

Nature Photographer His birds come to life, his photography and ornithology expertise, a real legend.
Born in San Diego, California, a near neighbor of Tijuana, BCS. I was introduced there while
still in diapers. I started taking pictures as an early teen and switched from film to digital when
we all did. I also evolved away from pics of dead birds and fish to live plants and animals
sometime in the 1960s. Exploring an ever expanding range into Northwest Mexico opened up a
whole new world of accessible nature to enjoy and photograph, which I have now been doing for
more than 60 years. I fell in love with Baja Sur when the partially paved road opened in early
1973 and have spent nearly every minute I can claw away from the machine here since. As a
full-time resident of Loreto this past 26 years I have been creeping and whizzing about, clicking
away at our wild neighbors, in much of my free time. I recently started a bird-watching guide
service, and carried a camera along with my binocular on outings with more than 1,400 clients
over nearly 8 years. Lotsa clicks! I would love to share more of the 40-some thousand images I
have amassed by keeping less than a tenth of what I capture, but . . . well. . .

. . Bueno. .
